My Journey as a Word Artist (aka a Writer and a Blogger)
Sunday, September 14th, 2008Since I learned to read, I have been fascinated with words. I quickly realized that, via words on a page, I could go anywhere and do anything I (or the books’ authors) could imagine, physical limitations notwithstanding. The world opened up further when I discovered I could write my own words. Since then, I’ve never known a time I was not writing something, somewhere. Letters. Poems. Essays. Stories. Assignments for school/college. Personal musings. Lists. (I’m infamous with at least one of my friends for my To Do lists.) Give me a pen and paper or a keyboard; I’m good to go. Some people create art with paints, oils, or charcoal; I use words as my medium of choice, and I have long acknowledged the power of words.
Cleanup
Saturday, January 12th, 2008I have removed a lot of unused applications and games from my computer. If I haven’t opened one in six months, it’s not going to happen…so out it goes. I used the Add/Remove Software tool in Windows for this.
The other day, I came across a computing tip that I like: Give XP the Performance Tools of Vista. Check it out; you may find it helpful.
Pirillo’s Picks
Wednesday, February 7th, 2007Some people collect stamps. Some collect coins. I collect links. I can’t help it. I’m a packrat when it comes to good computer applications and links to the plethora of websites I come across every week.
I am a long-time reader of Chris Pirillo’s Lockergnome newsletter, one of the first newsletters I found when I began learning about computers and technology. I still find lots of good information in LG. Chris has recently developed Pirillo’s Picks, a daily, weekday e mail with links to various sites he finds interesting and useful. Thanks to Pirillo’s Picks, I’ve already found some good software and informative sites that I might not otherwise have found. You can subscribe to it by sending an e mail to picks@lockegnome.com.
